Throughout the many years of operation, the South Florida Youth Symphony has been a pathway to success, both in the music world and in life.  Here are just a few examples of the influence the SFYS has had on some former members.

I ultimately attended Miami Dade College on a music scholarship, but unfortunately did not complete my studies or go on to a career in music. I live in North Carolina, and have been a paralegal for the last 35 years.

Fond memories or people:

I have fond memories of Carmen Nappo and my fellow musicians at the Sunday rehearsals and concerts at the North Miami Beach Auditorium. I attended with my best friend, Penny Bolt (french horn - now deceased), and violinst, Phil Tempkins, who lives in Broward County. I remember what a joy it was meeting and getting to perform with folks from all over Dade County.

The opportunity to perform music in various venues and in front of different audiences was an incredible training for my future endeavors- audition for UM, playing with Frank Sinatra Jr., FGO, Miami Symphony, etc. Thank you for the memories.
